As we approach mid-May, most areas are just starting to dry off after an extended period of wet weather. Since April 15, there has been roughly a total of two days in which conditions allowed growers work in the fields. Little to no burn down herbicides have been applied, and most fields show signs of weeds starting to grow.
So what can you do with when it dries off? One option is to plant Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® soybeans. They provide flexible burndown options, including the XtendiMax® herbicide with VaporGrip® Technology. As its label says: “this product may be used to control broadleaf weeds and may be applied before, during or immediately after planting Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans”. This means you can spray before or after planting, and that includes planting and spraying the same day.
Using Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans and XtendiMax herbicide will control over 350 weed species and tough-to-control weeds such as palmer amaranth, water hemp, marestail, lambsquater, and velvet leaf. XtendiMax herbicide will also give you soil activity for small seeded broadleaves for up to 14 days. For more information, visit www.roundupreadyxtend.com.
